Leprechaun

Leprechaun is a type of fairy commonly known in Irish traditions. The fairy leprechaun is usually disguised as an old man garbed in green or red coat and is a shenanigan. In Irish mythology, Leprechauns, like other fairy creatures, have also been linked to the Tuatha Dé Danann. The leprechauns are known as cobblers, who makes shoes and the gold coins they get, in return are stored in a hidden gold pot at the end of the rainbow. Whenever they are caught by humans, Leprechauns grant three wishes in exchange of their release. Leprechauns are often depicted in books and movies as short heighted with a hat and a beard, although they have been perceived to be the tallest creatures among the mount dwellers.

The word leprechaun is derived from Irish word leipreachán, which is defined by Patrick Dinneen as a sprite, pigmy or leprechaun. The deeper derivation of it is much uncertain. Some of the sources suggest that the word is linked with corruption of the Middle Irish luchrupán. Luchrupán is derived from Old Irish luchorpán which is known as a compound of the roots (lú –small) and corp (body). The influence of Ecclesiastical Latin on Irish language is obvious from the root corp, which was adapted from Latin corpus. For word leprechaun there have been different spellings used in English that include ‘leprehaun’, ‘lepreehawn’ and ‘lubrican’. The first English spelled leprechaun was used in the comedy, The Honest Whore Part 2 in 1604 by Dekker. It was used as, “As for your Irish lubrican, that spirit / whom by preposterous charms thy lust hath rais’d / in a wrong circle.”

The US Geological Survey originally put the magnitude at 7.3 but later downgraded this to 6.9, lower than the number given by the Japanese authorities. The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said that no tsunami damage is expected, though there may be small changes to the sea level. According to JMA, the latest tremor was an aftershock of the 2011 quake and depth of quake was estimated to be 30km (18.6 miles) on Monday. Japan Times said that the area was still generating at least an earthquake of 7.0 magnitude or more each year.

Strong tremors could be felt as far away as the capital, 100 miles south of Fukushima prefecture. Buildings in the capital shook for at least 30 seconds. The BBC’s Rupert Wingfield-Hayes in Tokyo says thousands of people have followed evacuation warnings and headed for higher ground.

Killing an Albino makes you rich!

No matter how brutal it might sound, Tanzania is a land which holds enormous and atrocious massacre of albinos every year. Thousands of local ‘witch doctors’ ferociously kidnap and murder albinos, to use their body parts in efforts to bring wealth to others. It is indeed mind boggling to see how these witch doctors have successfully convinced Tanzanians to believe that the body parts of albinos bring wealth and good luck. However superstitious belief of the people of Tanzania makes these witch doctors rich.

Although the Tanzanian government has already banned witch doctors and over 200 doctors have already been arrested but it seems that the deluded concept of faith has made people of Tanzania quite merciless. What remains most ironic is that people in their pursuit of wealth, have turned callous and cold blooded.

Albinos are now seen only as a means to money and prosperity not through labor, slavery or employment but through blood. Their right to live is undermined or out weighted by someone else’s right to wealth. The cold blooded murder of albinos, including children, women and men alike, has reached a staggering figure of 80 per annum. The witch doctors are openly seen practicing black magic and casting spells which can literally destroys one’s life.

What is now a cause of shame for the entire nation also reflects the level of ignorance and illiteracy present in the region. The value of human is surely undermined and those who need care are being subjected to cruelty Police authorities are committed to bring the culprits to justice by pacing their operation and stopping this carnage once and for all.
