4 Steps for Effective Time Management

It seems that there is never enough time in the day. But, since we all get the same 24 hours, why is it that some people achieve so much more with their time than others? The answer lies in good time management. The highest achievers manage their time exceptionally well. By using the time-management techniques in this blog, you can improve your ability to function more effectively – even when time is tight and pressures are high.

I will give you some pointers on how to make your day a little more productive. If you will take the time to implement these small steps, you will not let those time robbers succeed.

  1. Set Goals – These should include both personal and professional goals. It includes long-term goals that may take a while to achieve. What are your dreams? An example of a personal goal is “I want to learn to speak German”. An example of a professional goal would be, “I want to be Salesman of the year for my company.
  2. Planning – This is essential. When you plan for a day, focus on your goals for the year and for the day. If you do not take time to plan your day, someone else will plan it for you and you will not accomplish anything toward you own goals. You will feel less productive and frustrated.
  3. To Do Lists – What do I want to accomplish for the day. I am a chronic list maker. It started when I was working a full-time job, going to school full time and had two small children to take care of. It was the only way I could get stuff done.
  4. Review Your Day – At the end of the day, review your to-do list and put important things at the top for the next day. This way, things will not get put off to the last minute. Last minute tasks just cause stress and frustration.
